My older sisters always picked up the carnations for us to wear on Mother's Day and I remember sitting in church and suddenly being aware that we were wearing white carnations when our mother was alive!  So embarrassing for me.  Now we laugh about it and how even our Mother didn't think about it when she saw us that morning,  At least we had on carnations as was the tradition at the church.

Ah i see what the post means now. I grew up catholic. This wasnt done, so i was lost not understanding

After Mass today, anyone could pick up a long stemmed red rose.  Any donation would be given to help mothers with newborns.

@jlkz Now, that is a really great idea! And a wonderful way to express your love and appreciation for all mothers.
