Re: Do You Have Christmas China

In 2000, after 31 years of marriage, I got a wild hair that I needed Christmas dishes.

I used them that year for Christmas dinner and for a party we had right before Christmas Packed them away after the holidays and never used them again. If I had no room in my cabinets to keep them I wasn't going thru unpacking and repacking every year.

I realized no one else cared if I had holiday plates or not. A holiday themed centerpiece, candles and white plates still looked nice.

Re: Do You Have Christmas China

I have a set of the first pattern you posted.  My oldest daughter was very ill as an infant and I did not want to drag the only grandchild on both sides of the family to see everyone on Christmas so I started the tradition of inviting everyone to our house to celebrate Christmas.  My father bought me a set of 20 to accomodate all the guests I was hosting. That was 23 years ago and all the grandparents have passed.  Our gatherings at Christmas are much smaller now but we still bring out the dishes my father bought me.

I have many different Christmas dishes but the only large set I have is the Twelve Days of Christmas set sold by Valerie many years ago.   She also sold some accompanying pieces like a butter dish and teapot.  Does anyone remember them?

I have service for 12 of the Winterberry pattern by Pfalsgraf. Bowls, platters, glasses, gravy boat, the works. Neither of my girls are interested in it . I’m not sure what to do with this stoneware I’ve been collecting for 20 years. I no longer cook a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal for anyone other than my family. It makes me sad because it looks so beautiful on my red tablecloth. I should probably try to sell it .

I love that Winterberry pattern.  If my children were still living at home and my DH here, I would buy it.  I do have a Christmas set -- it's a holly pattern on white plate with a gold trim.  Was sold at Macy's years ago.  I love it and use it for Christmas.

My house is small so storing an entire set of Christmas dishes would be pretty challenging.  I host themed afternoon tea parties each year and have a lot of teacups.  One birthday my sister gave me a lovely Christmas pattern sandwich tray by Royal Albert.  I bought a couple of the matching salad plates on ebay and now they decorate the kitchen hutch during the Christmas season.  I have blue and pink china also by Royal Albert and have had fun finding Christmasy table decorations in blues, pinks and white.

@SandySparkles

That was my first love in Christmas china.

I still think it is one of the most beautiful patterns, but I ended up buying Lenox Winter Greetings and...sadly, have never used it.

Enjoy your Lenox!
