Are you putting out Christmas flowers?

Yes, I've had three potted cyclamen for 8-10 years.  They go dormant in summer and come back in fall with cooler weather.  This year, they're somewhat late but I'm hopeful they'll be in bloom by Christmas.

I love poinsettias but the last thing I need is another plant.  And amaryllis are nice but they prefer temperatures that my thermostat wouldn't recognize.  Paperwhites are nice as well but one year they attracted fungus gnats and I had to discard them.

We do, but they are faux poinsettias. We bought faux when we invited a cat and dog into our home about 35 years ago. Our dear pets are long gone, but we keep the faux flowers because we have grandchildren visiting at Christmas. I like to string mini lights through them. They are on the back of my grandmother's old pump organ, in the foyer, and on a sofa table.

They were on sale at the craft store, and they have held up very, very well.

I have a faux poinsettia in a Peterboro basket that I have had for many years and paid quite a lot for.  I think it is beautiful and it has served me well now for a long time.

Many years ago in our small town we had a wonderful flower shop and greenhouse...the owners were lovely (married man and woman) and very talented.  At Christmas time they would give each business owner a nice size poinsettia plant.

I don't any more.  I learned that I was sensitive to poinsettias when my law office put them in the conference rooms and I got all wheezy if I sat close to one.  So, I now just do greenerie with lights.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

Historically, I do, but didn't last year and most likely won't this year. The tree and perhaps a faux arrangement with a few other decorations will have to do.
