Thank you for all the input! I have moved from definitely no cards to h'mmm . . .  We usually do a small note with each card and since I cannot handwrite very well due to arthritis I do print it on holiday paper. It's usually changes in our household (kitties added or now gone, or closing the pool, things like that, never thought of it as a brag letter-I hate those as well. I usually have a 'wins' (I've semi-retired, new kitties rescued) and 'losses' (lost 2 sorority sisters this year, 3 of the cats passed this year,  and just last week my eldest brother passed away....may need to rethink that since I don't want to offend anyone.

And thanks for the reminder of the stamps, just ordered a coil of the flag forever stamp!

I do, but my list has become shorter too. I love receiving Christmas cards and the added letters.  I don't see many of my relatives and this is a once a year connection.  I decorate with the cards and enjoy looking at them during the season.

Re: Christmas cards?

[ Edited ]

Yes, I still send out Christmas cards, but as most have mentioned each year the list gets smaller and smaller.  My hubby comes from a large family so it's almost a given to send and receive cards.  Last year I sent a card to my older brother and his family as usual, I had not heard back from them and thought, oh well, maybe they quit sending or were too busy to send, not a big deal, then in Feb we received a Christmas card from my SIL (the card even dated Feb) hmm, okay better late than never I guess.  My brother and SIL are highly intellectuals but have always lacked in the common sense dept, LOL

I send cards every year. My list is getting shorter due to people passing. As long as they make cards I'll send them. I actually enjoy picking out cards to send.

I normally mail about 10...give or take.  Our church has a Christmas Card exchange and everyone has a mail slot and I do between 40 and 50.

I like to go the day after Christmas and shop the sales for Cards, wrapping paper, etc.

@shoptilyadropagain   what a nice idea at church for the card exchange.  Everyone probably enjoys them without the added cost of postage.  Very nice!   I used to go day after, but have found nice cards on eBay at good prices too.  I have enough wrapping paper for life.  I may look to donate some of it, or find a friend or mom friend that still have lots to wrap and buy for.

Although some are brag letters, I do enjoy the few I get.  Not really bragging, just hearing of their families and grandkids on people I don't always see a lot each year.  I'm not offended by them.

@PA Mon-to-mom - How fun you still have such a nig list!

I have enjoyed Christmas cards since I was a kid. I would buy several boxes every year because I thought they were so pretty. I still like to send cards though my list has also gone down as people have passed.

One year I thought, why do I have to send just one to a person? So sometimes I will send a new card to close family every few days. It's so fun to do and family who who would only get a couple cards a year get a bunch more!

@Sakuya  I've loved Christmas cards since I was a kid, too! Like your idea about sending more than one card. In the past few years I've sent cards to certain parents and different cards to their children.

@We rescue cats - I hope you don't stop sending a letter with your cards. It's a nice way to keep in touch with those we don't really see anymore or at least, not as often.

I am sorry for the loss of your brother, sorority sisters and kitties. That is a lot of loss in one year and I hope you are coping. Prayers.

Used to send quite a few but over the past years its getting to be less and less. I liked to send cards but have stopped sending to those that dont send in return. Now it is down to about 18. I am wondering with stamp prices going up again this month, if even more will stop sending.

I like the cards at " retro christmas card company dot com ". They are a little pricey, but the designs are mid-century. Before my time, but I like them. I don't believe the new designs for 2024 have been released yet.
