Re: Boiled dinner for St Patrick's day!

@KittySoftPaws   According to the DNA test I had, I'm 9% Irish, and my mom's maiden name was Flynn.  😃☘️

@LdyBugz   Yum.   I'm making corned beef and cabbage tomorrow with carrots and potatoes. I cook mine in a cooking bag in the oven.  Great smells and cleanup.  Additionally, I don't have to worry about a boil over.

I bought two.  One we'll eat and the other freeze.  I wrap it in parchment paper and foil.  Then into a ziplock bag.

I also bought two heads of cabbage.  One for the corned beef and the other for cabbage soup.

Forgot to add that I use Guinness for the cooking liquid. Delish.

I'm married to an Irishman, although I'm far from that... But I love this holiday and of course I make a mean corned beef every year ,and the cabbage cooked in the brine is also The Best! Enjoy!

@luvzchiz   I think I'll make mine tomorrow, too.  I'll have to try the cooking bag method sometime.  Seems like it would be easier than stovetop.  Also want try the crockpot.  Enjoy yours!

@LdyBugz.  I may pressure cook it.  Have you tried that?  I usually simmer on top of the stove.

'My mom used to pressure cook corn beef. The old fashioned pressure cooker. I've used an instant pot, I try to find a smaller corn beef. Always turns out great.

Re: Boiled dinner for St Patrick's day!

Have always made corn beef cabbage on St Paddy's Day , Irish on my fathers side.   It really isn't my favorite meal , find it too salty actually,   but once I year its fine its  tradition.  I cook everything  in the crock pot , the potatoes, carrots , corn beef and cabbage .   Make soda bread too ,  love that with orange marmalade!   And of course a pint of Guinness !

happy St Patrick's day !  🍀🍺

Can you use a slow cooker?  That's my favorite method 8hrs on low.  With an onion bay leaf peppercorns celery leaves and garlic cloves with their included spice packet.  Flat cut brisket.

Made one yesterday and another today. Lots of corned beef lol.

@LdyBugz  Love to cook a corned beef once a year to celebrate St. Patricks Day. So good.

We cook ours in a crockpot. The pot is oblong to accomodate the corned beef shape. Cabbage quartered, small red potatoes, carrots, beef broth,  and a can of beer. We like to use Fosters beer or a bottle of Quinness Stout.

The house smells soooo good while it's cooking.

Neither of us are of Irish heritage, but love to celebrate the luck of the Irish. Fun tradition.

It is fun to celebrate the luck of the Irish.  Wonderful holiday and it always feels like Spring is around the corner.
