Very nice. I do use just white lights, but your tree with the addition of the colored lights, wow! Good call on that.
@Snicks1 Thanks! I've been putting both colored and white lights on a Christmas tree ever since I moved out of my parents home in the early 80's (that should give you a clue of how old I may be...)
I'm sure I am an oddball, but I always found just white lights boring and just colored lights didn't give off enough light on the trees no matter how many I put on...LOL
I put a pic of our Christmas tree last year on another thread, but here's a pic of it with all our lights off except for the decor and from another angle. I put 2 - 100 bulb clear 'random flicker' (every 5th bulb flickers) lights strings and 2- 100 bulb colored light strings on steady on our tree...
@Susan Louise How many lights would you think a three foot tree could hold well? I have one which is flocked, from probably ten years ago, but never used it.
@mousiegirl The 4' BL flocked tree (tree itself is 3' - urn 1') has the 100 clear lights already on it. I then added 100 colored lights. The info about the colored lights I bought is HERE in my OP...so 200 lights altogether for a 3' tree
@Susan Louise I have two strings of the colored in my amazon cart for $12+ and free shipping, so thank you for the info about the amount, thought it might be two strings. I want to be able to do it myself as DH moans and groans about the eight foot green tree, lol.
@mousiegirl Forgive me, but I am confused
So you are about to order 2 strings of the colored...how many bulbs per string?...if 100 each?...then you are just doing colored lights...right?
Does your 3' flocked tree already have lights on it - prelit? Is it the BL tree?
@Susan Louise The tree has no lights on it, think I bought it at Target eons ago, just never used it. I am buying three 100 bulbs multi, white included, random twinkle strings.
@mousiegirl Bare with me, ok...just want to reiterate a couple of things to help clarify for you too
Ok...thanks for the clarification...whew! Well, if you want it to look like my BL flocked tree, there are only 100 clear/white lights...those are the ones that came with the tree. I only added one set of the 100 colored random flicker bulbs (yes, bought a spare set..but didn't put on the tree).
So on the 3' tree is only 200 lights total.
I think you will have difficulty trying to put 300 bulbs on a 3' tree (2 - 100 colored and 1 - 100 clear) because of the wiring. There is no way I could add another set without the tree looking odd.
Hope that clarification helps! I think if you put 100 colored and 100 random flicker white on your tree it will look AWESOME!!!
@Susan Louise For now, I am planning on putting two 100 color, which includes white bulbs on them, random twinkle strings on the tree.
@mousiegirl Do what makes you happy! I don't expect anyone to follow me in what I do. I'm just helping anyone who is interested. Everyone follows the beat of their own drummer ![]()

Love, Love, Love! Absolutely spectacular, Susan Louise! Thank you for sharing your idea, your source and the photos. The white lights work in my living room...but I had always wished I could have gotten the colored lights. Now I can try it! I'll post a photo...in a few months! ![]()

@Susan Louise I am going to give this a try on my BL flocked tree to change it up. How wonderful that you have shared another wonderful idea. I just purchased lights from Ebay. Will set my tree up once lights arrive and I bet I will love the change.
