   After years of this chair being used as a scratching post, it was taken to be re-upholstered. The arms and sides were in shreds; just a little interior design, compliments of my four spoiled cats.

    I miss having any sweet fur babies, but I love my new chair and am enjoying clean rugs minus long hair cat fur.

   I had it done in aqua velvet to match my wallpaper, sheer curtains and to pick up the aqua accents in my rugs.

  Having the chair done in aqua, inspired the decorating of the tree in aqua.

  Wishing all here to have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

@Enufstuff  Love your chair! The shape is so nostalgic to me. The aqua color is just perfect to go with wallpaper and rug.

@Kachina624  Thank you.  I remember exactly when I fell in love with aqua. I must have been about three years old, just barely tall enough to see above our kitchen window sill.

  It was early evening when the sun was lowering, before sunset.

As I was looking out the window, the sun was at an angle to shine through the aqua glass insulators on the telephone pole outside. To me, that was the most beautiful color that I had ever seen. After that day, the first color I always picked from my box of Crayolas, was the blue-green.

 My love of aqua, developed into a love of turquoise and I bought my first two pieces of silver and turquoise jewelry, a ring and a cuff bracelet with turquoise and Thunderbirds.

 I was eight years old and bought these at a shop on Indian Island ( which is still a Penobscot reservation in Old Town, Maine.)

 Being a child, I had no idea that this jewelry was actually from the Southwest. I loved my Indian jewelry and this was the beginning of my lifelong collecting of Native American jewelry; silver and turquoise from the southwest and seed bead

and porcupine quill pieces from the Northeast and Canada where my First Nations ancestors were from.

Gorgeous chair.  My Mom had an almost identical one - the upholstery was multi pink tapestry.

Oh @Enufstuff !  I absolutely love that corner!  It reminds me of the aqua wallpaper my parents had before I was born (seen in photos from the 50s) but also the older movies I love so much.  

On the other hand, it looks so current and beautiful!  Thank you for sharing!  🩵

@Enufstuff   The chair redone is beautiful.  I love it.  My first love of aqua was my aqua easy bake oven!  Probably 1967 or 68.  I still love aqua.  When I had my boat it had aqua stripes and aqua/white seats, my accessories inside were all beachy aqua!  

Your corner looks so nice and comfy!  Wishing you and your a very Merry Christmas!  Do you change your tree every year?  Anyways, it's stunning!

@lynnie61    Thank you so much. The chair was moved next to the tree, for the photograph. It actually belongs a few feet to the left so that it is in front of my fireplace and opposite a peach couch and next to a coffee table. On the other side of the coffee table, is a bentwood rocking chair, in front of the fireplace.

                   So you are an aqua girl too! Do you have turquoise, Larimar or blue topaz jewelry? I love it all.

       Your boat must have been lovely, all aqua and white. You must have loved your aqua Easy Bake Oven.

                    I feel bad now, that I did not get my oldest daughter an Easy Bake Oven when she wanted that for Christmas. She will be 62 in January, just a little younger than you are.

                 At the time, I was concerned that she could get burned or her two younger sisters could get burned with the oven. I remember telling her that if she wanted to bake, I would help her to bake in my kitchen oven.

                It's funny, she was never into baking, but she likes to cook, creating recipes. Her two husbands have been her bakers.

                One other thing that I didn't get for her was Baby Alive. I had heard about kids feeding the doll and maggots grew from the food stuck inside the doll. Other than that, my five children usually got what they wanted for Christmas.

               I would have them make a list of ten things and check the three things that they wanted most. That way, there were several things to choose from and they mostly got the top three.

               I remember my second oldest daughter wanted white GoGo boots, but she did not get them. She was born in 1965 and I think that trend was pretty much over, when she asked for them. 

              What a treasure your vintage German ornaments are. If yours are 100 years old, they are antiques. I was just reading recently about how Germany was a big exporter of their beautiful ornaments, before the war. The Germans really knew how to make beautiful Christmas ornaments, toys and decor.

                In the 60's a lot of handpainted ornaments came from Poland. My mother got some of those for me. Then in the 70's she was buying blown glass figural ornaments from Italy for me.

             Today, the Christmas markets are really popular and great for tourism in Germany and Austria.

              Your pink pinecone ornament must be pretty. I have a couple of vintage pink pinecones. You can still see my pink decorated tree that I previously posted.

              You can see a pink pine cone on the front and a smaller one on the upper left.

               I have been alternating between pink and aqua ornaments on the white tree. One year, I use both pink and aqua to match the ornament wreath that I made. The wreath is hung above the fireplace. It is also posted in Pink and White Christmas.

             Another year, I use aqua and gold ornaments. All my colorful old ornaments from the 60's and 70's have been packed away since I stopped having a green Christmas tree.

            I think that maybe next year, I'll get out all those old colorful ornaments and use them on the white tree.

            Do you put up a Christmas tree? Is it fresh or artificial?

I always loved the smell of having a real tree, but it made me nervous, being concerned about fires. My father was a firefighter and I heard so many horror stories, many fires this time of year from candles or Christmas trees.

            Of course back then the tree lights got hot, not like the cool ones today. But today, trees are cut down before Thanksgiving and are drying and dropping needles before Christmas. Once I got an artificial green tree, I felt safe enough to keep it up until my daughter's birthday on Jan.4th or now,

until Jan.6th.
