So, it seems Oryany is a goner, Kestenberg is out, they've killed whatever dignity Tignanello had...

so what's coming down the pike handbag-wise at the Q?  I thought Bethanie Lori was supposed to make some announcement in January.  They'll probably have her back selling something totally boring.  (Poor Linda Davies got stuck with sheets.)

Logic would tell you they need to offer some sort of decent brand given that handbags seem to sell pretty well.  Or at least they draw viewers.  I used to watch the shows then go buy elsewhere at a better price, which I'm sure is not what the Q was hoping for. Woman LOL

But, they continue to push the GILI inferior quality-no matter what Jill says- bags at every chance they get.  GILI is so very  overpriced.  Outrageously overpriced.  Where did you hear that orYANY and Kestenberg were out?  And the Dooney bags are way expensive for what they are.  I am sorry Dooney lovers.  Dooney does not sell well in stores anymore but you would never know that when looking at the Q programming.  I think that the Q is just moving away from handbags period. They are a company that needs to make a profit and they are constantly reevalating the direction to go with in products presented on air.  Look what has happened to all of their jewelry lines that are fading in airtime alotted.

Being an obsessed Oryany fan and seeing this post, I did a quick Google search for Oryany.  Interestingly, Oryany.com brings you to QVC when you click on their "shop" button.  Also, their facebook page seems to only include links to purchase their bags at QVC.  I also don't see any other stores coming up as sellers of these bags.  I wonder if Bethanie's announcement could be that the Q has bought Oryany or made them an "exclusive designer"???

Yes, apparently Bethanie Lori no longer has any reference to Oryany on her FB page (heresay, I don't have FB.)  There are so many Kestenberg clearance bags I am assuming they are on their way out too.

If it doesn't have Diamonique in it, it's gone soon. They are pushing certain designer's of certain items, and the rest are either out or on their way out. Lot's of Lori making everything now from tees to shoes. More of Or Paz and Ripka, less of other's. Just no fun to watch anymore. If it isn't expensive or has a big mark-up like make-up or silver jewlery it's not on. There is a whole list of what ever happened to companies. We'll soon be seeing hours of Chaz and his $200.00 a gallon shampoo. The programming is stale. If you are a favored vendor, you're around until you become boring. Then you are suddenly out of favor and it's on to the next one that gets overused. Love those high mark-up items. TV is off, I check in now and then on my computer that I bought straight from Dell. They had what I wanted, not what I was told I wanted.

@kjaeThe only GILI anything I ever bought was a crossbody bag -  bought it during the fall thinking I'd used it occasionally.  I liked the color and the size.

What has surprised me is the excellent quality and how often I use it.  How often??  -  All the time, except when I'm going to be out all day and need a tote.  And even then, I find myself carrying the bag in the tote so I can leave the tote in the trunk if it suits what I'm doing.

No idea about the quality of other bags in the line.  I know they're pricey, but all my larger bags are even though I buy at least 90% from sale tables.

@kjae  Besides GILI bags being a lot of money for nothing special, they are huge! Saw Amy (my size) w/ a bag on her shoulder and it looked like carry on luggage.

If all the handbag “time slots” are D&B, what other lines stand a chance?

Many years ago, the same thing happened w/ Bruce Makowsky bags...shows on all the time & squeezed other brands out.

You're right. The upscale handbag industry has been in the midst of a major reset for some time.

As for gili, why invest in an unknown house brand? I never like their styles, anyway, and I cannot watch their hired spokesgirl. Obnoxious.

I was never a huge fan of oryany and not a fan at all of AK, so if they both go kaput, I won't care. Then again, because of the very factors noted here by others (the narrow branding, non-competitive pricing, endless presentation loop of the same stale products and 'preferred' brands, leading to tedium, repetition and boredom) I gave up on QVC several years ago. All that said, they do need a couple of viable handbag alternatives to the endless stream of Dooney (and I agree, Gili is not a viable alternative...) along with the over-exposed Wen, IT cosmetics, Josie Maran, flameless candles, vacuums and appliances... No wonder I stopped watching...
