Re: Raincoats for our handbags!?

I already have a rainbag, was pretty expensive at 298 dollars, lol.  Will not take a florentine leather handbag out in the rain ever again after I did this one.  One spot of water will stain it forever.  So every time it rains I make it a point to use the Flap/toggle crossbody bag  when it rains.  It's already all spotted up from rain so it doesn't matter if it gets wet or not.  Thank goodness I have the same wonderful bag in the Ivy color too that's spotless.  Love that toggle bag.

@BlingQueen022

The spotting is what I'm anticipating, and we will be getting lots of rain and wind. Thanks for confirming my concern.

This raincoat was only $25, slips right over the top of any bag, and my handbags deserve it!

I've been caught in the rain with florentine leather and it didn't stain permanantly. Once it dried it was it was back to what it was. I do try and avoid taking certain bags in the rain though.

Re: Raincoats for our handbags!?

I can't imagine having a bag that I can't carry in the rain without worrying about it staining.  I am too messy even without the rain.

I carry my Brahmins with no worry. They are gorgeous and don't stain in the rain.

I'm not even careful with them and they look like new after years of use.

I'm sorry, but what a ridiculous concept. I'd opt to simply carry an unimportant bag or one that tolerates rain, as I often do...  Certainly doing so makes a great deal more sense than carrying a beautiful bag and then essentially condomizing it... This has to be the most utterly silly thing I've seen in ages.

Never would have even thought about this.  My handbags are all under $75 and I don't care if they get wet.  I just dry them off and they don't stain.

@Carrying an unimportant bag? Hmm. Can't get my handbag mind around it, @stevieb.

I only have bags I adore. PLUS it's just the brief walking and getting soaked that needs protection (just as I do). Once I'm at the location I want my bag to be one I love looking at, using.

In addition to protecting leather, I have several bags that have openings on top where the rain would get it. Sure, I could cover it with a plastic bag, but this is a simple elegant solution.

Perhaps I get stuck in the rain carrying bag, umbrella, and books or packages more than most. Too hard to manipulate. Simple solution.

Re: Raincoats for our handbags!?

Many years ago I worked in Center City, Philly and had a long walk to my office.  Since I always had my leather soft-sided briefcase with me, I bought and used a see-through , tailored, plastic slip cover for the briefcase.  It looked quite nice and did a wonderful job.

When promoted to the parent company in NY, I gave it and the slip cover to another manager.  She was very happy with both items.
