Re: I wonder if QVC is phasing out Tignanello

No matter when or what you write about Tig on this board there has to be those who start the ranting and raving about the PVC handles and the original point gets lost in their old, boring , same ole , same ole rants. OK already, we are all aware that Tig is not 100% leather. Let it go already! That has NOTHING to do with the point of this thread. There are many of us who love our tig bags and would like a discussion without this rude interruption. Go buy your Dooneys - who cares what you buy - some of us don't like Dooneys and would like to discuss a different brand.

The comments are appropriate.  OP wants to know if the Q is phasing out Tig.  Yes they are.  And why?  Because they have gone cheapo and used plastic wherever they could get away with it.

You love them.  Fine.  But they're going...

Re: I wonder if QVC is phasing out Tignanello

I have one style of Tig in three colors. It's one of the vintage leather ones, and it suits me very well.

But I understand that others are disappointed in the fact that they are not all leather, and I certainly don't get upset at the mention of it.

Surely the OP must have known that it would come up in a topic like this. It's silly to start berating other posters.

The Tig bags no doubt are going away  because they don't sell. I remember when the bags were ALL LEATHER and they always sold out. I still have one of their all leather bags and it still looks new.

I'm sure that Li & Fung, the parent corporation of Global Brands Group that owns the Tignanello brand has other handbags brands that they are manufacturing for QVC.

I will bet dollars to donuts that they are private label manufacturing those G.I.L.I. handbags.

Me too!!  They are probably phasing the brand out because I think most women DO want the leather straps and because they aren't.....the bags aren't selling very well.

I don't know why they don't just go back to all leather....I liked the old Tiganello....just seems like a no brainer to me......

[ Edited ]

It seems to me that construction of the bag is sort of a critical variable in any discussion of the bag and whether or not it will continue to be sold. For a bag that's faux leather or mixed materials, the prices here for them are high. I would surmise that many customers, rather than paying QVC prices for a mixed material Tig bag, are purchasing them or a similar brand elsewhere at discount, are purchasing other all non-leather brands elsewhere for quite a bit less or are adding on the difference and purchasing another all leather brand here, somewhere else or at discount. QVC tends to be one of the last places I personally like to purchase bags because their costs tend to be full retail and their shipping tends to be high for handbags.

I used to be a fan of Tig bags because I like their organiztion. However, as many others have mentioned, I did not like the plastic trim. I have noticed that the Q doesn't have very many in stock.

Seems like the brand, which was and may still be associated with BMakowsky in the holdings of a much larger company, is not doing well and may even be going under. Macy's used to feature them as they did with the BMak bags, and they no longer do. Go to their website and every Tig bag is on sale. And Bmak bags left center stage at Macy's, as did Van Zeeland, years ago. I think the triplet brand is defunct now.

Does anyone know if the Tig bags sold in the department stores are all leather?  I picked up one in the after Christmas clearance for a steal, but I can't tell if the handle and botton is leather or pvc?

The Tig bags sold at TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and Winners are not all leather. They have PVC trim and handles.

I bought my sister a small Tig crossbody bag from Winners in Canada about a year ago and it was the same as one she bought at Marshall's in the U.S., just a different color. Both have PVC trim on the bag but she's OK with it.
