Has QVC ever passed off an As-is bag for new? What would you do?

I recently purchased a Zip Zip bag and when I received it, the bag was already in the dust bag, and not inside the bag as normal, and the carry on strap is was clipped on to the bag and not in protective covering. I called QVC and inquired about this and she said I can return the bag but they no longer have the color I just ordered and it's not on waitlist.  When I first noticed this bag, they did not have the color then a week later bam, the color I wanted. I'm guessing it was known the bag was a return. What would you do? A bag you really wanted but obviously is used if returned you won' ever get the bag or would you pay the full new price for a used bag. DECISIONS DECISIONS DECISIONS. PLEASE HELP.

Unfortunately, this is happening more often than you think and not only with bags. I ordered an expensive leather jacket and it was obviously used and the same thing happened with an expensive watch.

It depends on what you mean by 'used'. You did not describe any wear etc. If the bag is in new condition and it was just not packed as a new bag, I'm okay with that. I've received in the last couple months, truly worn items with stains and noticeable wear. That is unacceptable to me when I'm paying full price and buying a new item.

As long as the bag is and looks new and I get all the pieces (dustbag, straps etc.) it's acceptable that it's not wrapped as new. I do prefer to get a truly new bag that I unwrap myself but I can overlook it if the bag is ok.

"As Is' to me means either someone else did have the good(s) and/or it was used as a demo on a show.  You do take your chances with as is items however, I do shop specifically for as is and clearance, as well last clicks if I'm really wanting something but certainly won't pay full price if I can get it cheaper.

For all of the as is items I've purchased which I'll add are all clothing, I have never received anytbing that was not acceptable to keep.  Don't forget, you still can always return these types of items.

I love a great bargain and have found many in the SG line.  Susan's things are mostly way overpriced for what they are but she sells a mean as is for less than half the price!

On the other hand, I've also received items (clothing) that have been sold as new but clearly are not if the tags are clipped off and labels removed.  This is cheating in my book.

If you went into any store that carries high-end bags and asked to see a bag from behind the glass case, you would hold it, put it on your shoulder, look inside, etc.  Would you expect the store to sell you that bag as 'used and at an 'as is price'?'  I can assure you, you would pay full price for that bag.

@Hiam .. several years ago I purchased a "new" B. Makowsky handbag from QVC.  When it arrived I found candy; old candy wrappers and half eaten candy inside.  Of course I immediately returned it.  That was the last time I purchased a handbag from QVC.  In fact, I am making fewer and fewer purchases as time goes by.

I thought I remembered them saying that Dooney was shipping bags in the dust bag now. But I haven't bought a Dooney in almost a year,

I guess it would be your choice whether to keep it.  I am a online shopper only.  I don't watch the shows.  I do haunt the AS IS and clearance sections and have never had a problem even with that.

They are giving your the option of returning it and I think that is what counts.

As Is is often risky.  You know what you're up against and you take your chances.

My issue is that some items sent out as "new" should have been reduced and offered As Is.  And unfortunately, those decisions seem to be at the sole discretion of the individual on the job at the time.  They need to have real guidelines as to what is new and what is not for these employees to follow.

I guess it all boils down to how much you really want that bag.  If you want it that badly, IMO you should just swallow your pride and keep it (that's what I would do!).

I should also say, I don't consider "unwrapped and assembled" as used.  To me, "used" would indicate that you found evidence that someone actually carried it.  For example, something left behind inside the bag, or any wear and tear (including scratches) on the bag.
