I have my eye on a handbag that costs $400. What is the most you would ever pay for a handbag. Thank you!

I've paid $400 for a purse. I usually buy Brighton or Frye and Brighton is closing in on $500 and that's my limit. I only use small crossbodies, no totes or satchels so that keeps the price down a bit.

We would all have limits of what we would pay top dollar for.  It only matters what You would pay.

I'm frugal .... most I ever paid was $80.

I don't have much interest in handbags .... I prefer to focus on my clothes.

The most I've ever spent is $50 and it's the one I use the most so I'm definitely getting my money's worth.

I've spent $250, on Brahmins but that's my limit and wouldn't do it again.  They're not even my favorites to carry.  To spend $400, is IMO excessively extravagant.  There are tons of beautiful bags that are under $200.

@Thundar  $300 for a Coach bag (on sale).

I once sold a bunch of gold jewelry at the downtown jewelry district and took my money to Rodeo Drive to the Louis Vuitton store to get a small bag or wallet, but when I got there, they wouldn't give me the time of day, even though I was ready to buy.  They were all over my future DIL, who wasn't really interested and was just there for the ride.  I left with my cash needless to say.  Even now that I'm getting rid of my bags, she still carries the one bag I gave her about 10 years ago, and really isn't interested in taking any of them.

I once had 200+ bags, mainly Coach, D&B, and Michael Kors. I've been selling them off on Poshmark since March....I've sold enough to finance my 3 week trip to Sicily and London!

@Meowingkitty I love my Brighton crossbody organizer Jagger.  It's held up so well and still looks like new even four years later.  I haven't used it constantly and had put it away last year so this year it's like having a new bag!

@ALRATIBA,

I don't know if you are kidding or not-

I would think $80 is not something I would call frugal. But maybe we are all just different worlds here.

And maybe just what is important to each is different to all of us. Not judging just its true.

If you love the bag and you can afford it, then I say -- go for it!

I, however, don't have the budget for that sort of thing.  I used to buy Coach bags quite often when I was working.  It was my thing.  I bought a couple other higher priced bags and now I never carry any of them.

I now carry very light-weight medium or smaller bags which I find on sale.  I particularly like Lug.  I try not to go over $50.
