Hi Bernie. I remember my first handbag as a white crocheted drawstring bag given to me at my first communion, as well.  Mine contained while glives, a dollar for the collection, and a small blue rosary.  i don't have mine, as you do. what a lovely treasure.

My first handbag was my First Communion bag.  It was white.  I had my rosary & a prayer book called "The Simple Prayer Book." in it.

I recall having a handbag made from wood beads that looked something like this:

My first purse was a gold open-work metal oval with a Mother of Pearl lid and small handle. I was only able to carry it to church.

Back then, we always wore white gloves to church and I thought how pretty the lid and my white gloves lookedWoman Very Happy

A wonderful memoryHeart

I found this picture but as I said the top and handle was Mother of Pearl.
