Hello sisters. Had another exerience yesterday afternoon and had to go to ER. Was afraid I would have another hospital stay, but caught this one in time. Spent the night ER under observation and was realeased this morning. Among other health issues I have asthma, COPD (yes, both), and a Rare condition VCD, or in my case, "extreme vocal chord collapse" My Oxygen saturations have dropped so low, that 7 times I have been intubated and on machines to keep me alive. I ask for your prayers, but I especially ask that you keep my daughter in your prayers. She is 34 and was born an O2 loss to the brain. Her father bailed out on us when she was 2, because "I didnn't sign up for this." he has not seen her in 14 years and has no idea what a lovely, talented, and creative person she is. We have no family and my worst fear is when I die, she will have no home and we know whwt happens to children of certain disabilities. Please pray for us, especially my liitle daughter.
I knew I could come to my sisters.

I'm sorry you ended up in ER again and I can't even imagine how frightening it was for you or your daughter. Regarding your daughter, do you live in an area where there are programs or assistance available for special needs?

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter. You've been through a lot, so rest and relax; get better. When you are feeling stronger you really should work on a plan for your daughter's care when you are no longer here to care for her. None of us know how long we have. If you go to church, perhaps you can get some guidance from your pastor. Perhaps you can start with your city or state Social Services dept and find out what options are available. It seems like you have frequent hospitalizations, you might want to reach out to the Social Works at the hospital. You had the strength to provide and care for her for 34 years, now you need to summon up that strength again for your daughter.

A good question, Birdmama. In our state the best that can be hoped for is a "group" home. As a special education teacher, I have seen how these children are handled. My beautiful. talented ddaughter would not be treated as per her expeiences. She speaks 2 languages almost fluently.. She understands the pirouttes and fouttes of ballet, but can not make change or understand a pun. God bless you for you concern.

I'm sorry you ended up in the hospital. I completely understand your concern for your daughters welfare when the times comes that you can't care for her anymore. I wish I had some helpful advice but I don't.
