We're getting borderline late in terms of "early fall" around here. We're about ten days from our expected first frost in mid-October here in South Jersey. A good time to plant bulbs, but we're getting a bit later than I'd like to plant new perennials. For me, August and September were later planting times for perennials. If you've got one lying around, by all means, plant it now, but it's getting a bit later than I'd be fully comfortable with.
