@Desertdi I thought all termites flew.  It's a particular life stage when they fly.  That's when they leave "home" to go find a new home.  I've seen swarms of them leaving an old rotted landscape timber.  What we're familiar with is the larval stage.  

 

I hate that they no longer treat landscape timbers with arsenic anymore.  Those things only last a couple of years now.

Sounds very frustrating. They do make indoor insect traps called zero raid allso makes some thing like that .good luck.hope you figure out and can fix the problem.
