I live in zone 7 and have ordered the Phillip Watson designs sunpatiens for the last 3 years. They have done well all 3 years. I was looking at ordering them again and they look the same, but it says for zones 9 to 11. Is this just a CYA on their part?

@GoodyShoes  I live between zones 6 and 7 and grow sunpatiens every year. I think they are listing "hardiness zones," which means they can winter over outside. In the northern areas, they are considered annuals.

This seems to be causing confusion with Phillip's petunias as well.

Hi there, I agree with @PA Mom-mom - it's probably the difference between a hardiness zone.  I'm in zone 7 too and the sunpatiens did well until we had a hard frost and I believe the petunias might last a bit longer since they have less "water" in their stems but they are definitely an annual here.
