Please Help! Important Question about Slug Bait

I just had a terrible argument with my DH. He went out in the garden and covered every bed of our vegetable garden (nothing planted yet) with commercial slug bait - not organic, It says it is toxic to animals and children and of course he washed his hands. My question is - is my garden now contaminated with poisin?? I grown vegetables in order to have a healthy and organic garden - I had a fit when I went outside and everything was smothered with this stuff. Please help.
