Re: Plants received to early

Do people feel they ship plants too early? It’s not even above 50 and I received my plants three weeks ago.

I live in California and received my Roberta's At Last Coral rose about three weeks ago. I planted it right away. It is in full bloom with lots of buds. I had a coupon so I paid just $21. I think the timing was perfect.

@Caroline03.  They can only go by the AVERAGE  last freeze date in your area.  As erratic as the weather has become, there's no way to predict anomalies.

I was ready for my order three weeks before it arrived.  It was so warm.

@Kachina624

Weather here has been like a roller coaster for the past month.

Today, I figured "this is it"...and I planted sunflower seeds.

This hasn't been my best day.   After crawling out from under the kitchen sink, I went out to water the front yard, and the BIG AMZ truck was in my driveway.

Told the driver I had been waiting for my delivery since MONDAY...and he handed me two HUGE (and heavy) boxes.    My knees kinda "buckled", but I made it to my front door.

Then I decided to plant the seeds in rock hard dirt.   Yes, I had watered first.

Thank heaven I still have grandpa's garden tools.   (They are still sharp as knives).

Came in the house, and "tried" to take a nap...but my old bones were kinda sore by that time.

Well May Day is workers day...and I did my share.   Sorry for the rant, but this was more like Friday the 13th (!!)    di

Re: Plants received to early

plants almost always come weeks early, so if you don't have a place to store at night  for abt 2-3 weeks, just buy local plants

Re: Plants received to early

I ordered the rose lilies from robertas andgot them within a few days-- but I live in zone 8 so planting season has been for awhile now. They were the TSV and got 5 bulbs and 2 of them are poking thru the dirt now. Have had good luck with the lilies---this is the 2nd time I've ordered.
