We planted our vegetable/fruit garden today.  I'm sooo sore!  lol

I found a saved seed packet of Honeydew melon that was from fruit we grew last year.  I decided to give it a try this year to see if it will grow for us.

Has anyone had seed older than the prior year sprout and produce for them?

It should sprout. You may not get as many sprouts as you would when the seed is fresh, but it will still sprout. 

I usually keep a few bags of grass seed on hand for patching bare spots. Some of it I have for years and it still grows.

I'm the same. I've had seeds sprout at a good rate even ten years down the road after being stored in a sealed container in the fridge. There are some seeds that have a very short shelf life regardless of how you store them, but I've had pretty good success with even pretty old seeds.

I have already found an old seed pack from 4 o5 years prior and planted them rather than throw them away. I always think that if even one germinates it's better than it growing in a landfill!

@We rescue cats  I dunno.  If flowers can grow in a landfill, isn't that a step in the right direction?

If I find an old packet of flower seeds I just pour out the whole pack in a bit of raked up garden and say "Best o luck to Ya!'
