Just wondering, Hubby bought me a pot of pansies. Do they need to be dead headed. Had back surgery recently and trying to as little as possible. They do look better dead headed but is it really necessary??

I've never deadheaded mine. But they tend to get leggy so I cut them back from time-to-time and that rejuvenates them.

Yes, deadheading them will help them to continue to bloom longer.

I deadhead mine. I think it keeps them compact & neat looking & encourages reblooming.

You don't have to deadhead them, but most florals look better with spent blooms removed. Pansies prefer cooler temperatures, but if you plan to keep them throughout the summer cutting back will prevent them from becoming leggy and looking droopy in the summer heat.
