One More Attempt

[ Edited ]

I have a green thumb.  Both indoor and outdoor plants do well in my care.  In fact, I have my grandma's plants and their offspring.  I have plants that I purchased during miy children's elementary school plant sale, that are still doing well.  My children are adults.

I have saved plants that were thought to be garbage.  Therefore, I did not have reservations in ordering plants from the Q.

In the past I have ordered from Roberta's and Cottage Farms.  The items I ordered in the 90s were good and flourished:  multiple hydrangeas and a three pack butterfly bush.  Happily the hydrangeas are still around, and the butterfly bush lived for about 8 years before expiring.

Since I had good luck with CF, I ordered again from them.  However, these did not have the same result as the others.   CF customer service did send a replacement, but unfortunately the replacement was not long lived.  CF customer service would not refund my cost nor would they send yet another plant. They said bascially one and done. Therefore, CF went on my do not purchase list.

I moved on to Roberta's fig trees.  Bid mistake, as they also did not do well.  They were replaced with a different plant as R said that they did not have the same.  The plant they sent was a "weed" type flower.  Luckily, I planted it in a container, or I would have had a problem.

Move to today, I fell for Phillip Watson's butterfly bush and ordered one.  The price is close to what the same is selling locally.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these will flourish and do well.  If not, three strikes and Q's plants are out.

If you have read this long message, thank you!

You're welcome - I did read the whole thing!

Phillip doesn't work for CF any more - so hope he has found a better source for plants.

Read it. I have local nurseries, but it's nice to try something different, isn't it?. I ordered the hummingbird mint from CF, due in to me later this month. Some of the QVC plant prices are reasonable, some not.

I ordered plants here once before, I think it was calibrachoa. They didn't die, but they didn't flourish either.

Good luck with the butterfly bush. I like to plant bushes which benefit the pollinators.

Like you, I have a green thumb, too and had similar problems with Cottage Farms and Roberta's, so I order from well established companies I have been ordering from for a long time.  No problems with their plants at all.

The problem I had was sending fragile newborns that couldn't withstand the trip and transplanting.  The other and it's replacement were received moldy.

Yes, I was out of $75.

When I called after the replacement was bad to offer suggestions, the CS rep for one was rude.

Hope this order for you works out well.

In the past I ordered bulbs that arrived moldy.  The only thing I order now are daylilies.  I am in a small town & can't find reblooming daylilies. You can't kill them & they multiply.

@Foxxee @bells4me   Thank you.  I hope that wherever you get your plants from they come in healthy and provide you great enjoyment.

I went kind of crazy today and ordered 2 PWatson plants and Cottage Farms. I had good luck with CF when they first came here and the plants lasted a long time. I got the 100 pk of many different kinds. I had a few out of that 100 that did not bloom and I called and they sent another 100 pk! I only needed 4 plants.

I also ordered the HSN special on the hibiscus plants, first time with them. Leaf and Petal

Last year I got Barbara King and the hibiscus did great,  waiting for it to bloom this year. Hope it does esp with the minus temps we had.

What bothers me is the years guarantee. We really need more than a year b/c my plants came last March and they aren't supposed to bloom until June maybe. That doesn't seem right.

The same thing will happen when I get the hardy's this spring. Need more time to see if they all bloom. I will call them if they don't work out after the year is up.

I am excited to get them all. I do have a green thumb too!

So many things going straight to back order.

I ordered the firemans nozzle last week when it came back in and it went right to back order. I ordered it early too. Not happy.
