I have several landscaping rocks in the front of my house, under one of my Crape Myrtles.  They are larger rocks (not river rocks) and they are used as accents.  They are sitting on top of black mulch, with 3 petunias closely planted around each one.  The petunias mound and trail near the rocks and I just love them.

@Kachina624  I want to know the winning numbers of a mega lottery.

I want to know if others enjoy thoer rock landscaping and if some rocks are better at weathering the elements than others.  We can have some strong winds here and I won't invest in small pebbled rocks as they just blow away.

Want a divorce?  Go with DH to the local supplier's site.  So many color tones......worse than the paint store.

I am on the southern end of WV, and had a landscaper put river rock around the house a few years ago.  I absolutely hate mulch, but continue to like the river rock border and feel it was a very wise choice.  There is NO WAY wind is going to blow any of these rocks away!

@Puzzle Piece.  The rocks I have in my front yard are not gravel.   I didn't choose them as they've been in place since the house was built in 1984.  Rock yards start with underlay material.  When mine was done heavy plastic sheeting was used.  Now they use a fabric-like material.  This is what keeps weeds out.  My rocks a a redish volcanic cinder in the front.  The backyard is crushed river gravel, larger pieces so it's easy for my dogs to walk on.

Rocks don't wear out; they go on forever.  The underlayment will eventually deteoriate but it lasts a long time.

Bark blows away and stays damp so it attracts bugs like cockroaches.

I'm always on the lookout for rocks, but never have any luck.  I have decent size rocks edging a section of my garden that a friend brought me years ago from his yard out of state. I want good size rocks not pebbles.  I'd really like some very large ones but they are expensive and need to be delivered.
