Your kitty is absolutely beautiful! Such a cool, unique name too. Now, I see how you came up with your screen name.😃❤️
I can certainly believe this practice was shown on Dirty Jobs. I agree with you completely about this too. I'm absolutely sure this shouldn't qualify as a humane practice. So sad.😔

@cheriere He is named for a famous leopard named Xivambalana in Krugar National Park (South Africa) who is part of the lineage of the famous Queen Karula.

@Xivambala @cheriere I had a neighbor friend who had a large 'pet' Iguana, although it didn't qualify as a pet in my opinion. That thing had a very bad disposition.
My friend constructed a large (walk in) enclosure with everything a giant lizard would love. Iggy, as he was called, was living the good life. But any attempts to handle Iggy was a fight. He looked at all visitors like --- get closer, make my day.
One day Iggy managed to get out of his enclosure door. My friend was frantic, for a multitude of reasons. Friends and neighbors searched everywhere, but Iggy could not be found. What happened to him remained a mystery.
Several months later, a neighbor found Iggy in her flower garden, having a good time. When retrieved, he was found to be fit, fat and in a bad mood at being captured. He had clearly enjoyed his freedom. It's amazing that he made it unscathed for so long.
Knowing Iggy, I wouldn't want to live anywhere where they were falling out of trees. They're scary creatures.

@BlueFinch When the iguanas were declared a nuisance animal here in Florida a few years ago, pet owners had to apply for a permit and have them microchipped. Not sure where your friend lives.

@Xivambala We're in central TX. Don't recall my friend ever saying there were owner requirements. It never came up in conversation, but maybe there are permit rules. I'm doubting it for this location, though.
Sounds like a good idea to prevent Iguanas from becoming a nuisance, even in an areas they're not native to. We've seen the problems with pet owners releasing critters into the wild causing many problems. Snakes in Louisiana and Florida are just one example. Rules might help prevent pets from going wild.

@on the bay wrote:They look so different-the first 2 pictures and the last one. So cute that Ruby has made a friend
I love lizards and have noticed that they will stop and listen when you talk to them gently.
@on the bay The third little guy is a common garden skink, a different species.😊

@cheriere - Yesterday, I saw a few baby Anole lizards on the plants in my front foyer. They are cute and have the most curious look.
Then the night before I saw a whole bunch of baby toads. They are so tiny and dark colored - maybe about the size of a nickel or slightly smaller.
