JUST RECIEVED MY NEPTUNE ROSE...

20210608_173444.jpgOrdered from Heirloom Rose's. It's been in transit for 5 days from Oregon. Surprisingly it looks good ,it's just 2 canes, but they're green. Their website got awful reviews, so I'm concerned.

@Dazlin

Your stalks look nice and healthy, don't be concerned.

Just show us pics of your lovely blooms when they arrive!

Never seen such healthy green stalks - must have been potted vs bare root.

Bare root ones look like a sick dead branch.

Relax - Reviews are always all over - some good - some negative.  5 days in transport shouldn't be a problem.

Own root take a while to establish. I'm expecting Mango Veranda from them tomorrow. At least the heat wave is over for now.

The First Crush I got from them last year & planted mid season had 2 blooms on it, so far. By next year I expect it to do more with blooms & increase in size.

Bliss which I bought from them & planted in early May last year has had over 7 blooms on it this year.

Re: JUST RECIEVED MY NEPTUNE ROSE...

I agree, it looks pretty healthy.   Yes, it was in a small pot.

Neptune is my favorite rose.  The rose never drops until I deadhead it.  The fragrance is amazing and the bloom is huge, lavender color.  I had another one that was from Weeks nursery,  all are grafted.   It did great for first 2 years, then it only made strange canes, and no flowers.   When I pruned those off, the crown looked dead and brown...sure enough when I dug it up, nothing much left to the roots.  So now I'm happy to try this own root, and hopefully it'll be healthy for a long long time.

@Dazlin   Green is good.  I have MANY roses from this company, and they are now thriving.  The third year is when they really shine.

Re: JUST RECIEVED MY NEPTUNE ROSE...

Planted my Mango Veranda today. I had already made a tag for the ground & I tossed the wooden dowel from the box. I planted it deep enough & covered the soil with cedar mulch. I gave it a good drink from a watering can before planting it today.

It wasn't like a sauna outside today.
