I need some help

Hi gardeners. I have a hillside area that I have cleared and need to keep clear so that trees and brush don't re-occupy the site. It is a difficult area to maneuver and I would love some suggestions for plants that need no (is there such a thing) or low care. I am also wanting plants and shrubs that don't need to be cut down in the fall. So far I have nesting spruce, juniper, carex perennial grass, Baltic ivy and some sedum groundcover. I am looking for color so I thought of lavender and mountain laurel and holly. Can you add to my list? Would love some feedback. I am in Zone 5 and this is an area that gets a fair amount of sun daily and some shaded areas as well. TIA. LM
