Today Oct. 18: there are buds on my hydrangea....finally to go with the three blooms I had on my other two hydrangeas. Don't think I'll see them come into bloom this late in the year.

Mine also only bloomed once.this year........Can I split the largest one into two plants? If so, should I wait for spring or do it now? I think I remember my grandmother doing this but I don't know the best time.

my neighbor was the infamous Mary Kay. For several years she fought to have our street lined in Lavender hydrangeas and this request extended 3 blocks deep. She was not as partial to pink as so many thought.

No we did not ever completely give her what she wanted as she refused to foot the bill

I live in central NJ and none of my hydrangea's bloomed either, first time this has ever happened, however I saw others around here that had bloomed. They were green and hearty, yet not one bloom.

My hydrangeas didn't bloom this year except for two branches! I have had mine for 14 years and usually pass them out to the ladies in neighborhood. Sadness!

I am going to transplant mine to get more morning sunshine and see if that will help with blooms next year. I live in the midwest and we have had several freezes, but still lots of above average highs, too. When do I transplant?

Thanks!

Wait till spring now as its getting late for the plants to reestablish roots now in your area.

I have a few things to move around when spring comes. I keep a journal and one of the things I write about is plans for the upcoming year.

I have Weigela 'Minuet' that I will move from a Southern exposure to a Western exposure. There used to be hollies where this is going. Right now I have that supermarket purchase Coreopsis there and in the spring that will be moved to near my side gate. I have a small spot perfect for it and since its a perennial, it won't get huge like a shrub would. I also have to dig up a rose 'Ebb Tide' and move it further away from 'Our Lady of Guadalupe' rose that I transplanted this summer.

I live in zone 4 and got very few blooms on my endless summer hedges this year and most of them in late August to September. The cold winter most likely is to blame. I just cut the rest of the blooms as we are getting frost this week. I will prune them in the next two weeks.
