My son just discovered that his basement rug feels damp. He is not inclined to lift the rug because it is wall to wall carpet. He just hooked up a deminidifier in there. He does not know for sure where the water is getting in. My husband and I are going to go over to his house tomorrow and look around while he is at work. The problem is, we have had two pretty good rains in the past month where people had huge problems in their basements around here. This probably happened then. How do you pin point where a problem is like this after the fact?
I am going to call his insurance company on Monday, but I think he has a $500 deductable. I don't even know if this would be covered. Our son is a first time homeowner, (age 30) and is worried about mold.
