@Kachina624 During my early morning swims I still encounter the beaver.  I don't mind seeing them but I confess it makes me a bit uneasy when they sight me and then go underwater.  In my 20 years here, I never had a bad encounter so I suspect they are as about as happy to see me as I am them!

I had an incredible experience this summer.  Sometimes when I swim there is fog or 'lake smoke' which burns off as the sun rises.  I was swimming one morning and I saw a loon not far away.  He went under for what seemed like a long time.  When he came up, he had a 5-6" fish in his bill.  I stopped to watch him.  He threw his head back and swallowed the fish.  I was like wow!  Amazing sight.

I love where i live!

@Lilysmom1.  Just wait until a moose pops its head up beside you sometime.  I've never seen or heard a loon.  They don't hang out where I do but I'd be thrilled to meet one.

@Kachina624 Well, if I ever saw a moose that would surely cure me of my early morning swims!  Moose are endangered in mainland Nova Scotia.

The call of the loon is very distinctive.  I hear them more often than I see them so my sighting was a real treat.
