Dragonflies are my favorite insect, I fell in love with them when we had our pond...and I miss them now that we do not.

Gorgeous. Love them. Also of course adore butterflies, lady bugs, bees of all kinds, and my very favorite is the praying mantis. The pic of that dragonfly is just beautiful.

@MoonieBaby,

I was just going to say as well as dragonflies, sweet lightning bugs, there is the praying mantis-magical!

Oh and ladybugs!Heart

Beautiful picture of that Flame Skimmer! Thanks for sharing.

Years ago I went to a local lecture held by a gentleman known as The Dragonfly Whisperer around these parts. It was so interesting. His name is James S. Walker and he opened my eyes to not only dragonflies but damselflies.

Fortunately, we have no shortage of ponds and lakes around Western Washington so it is very easy to go Dragonflying.

Cheers. Thanks again for the post!

Back when I lived in MA, I was pulling out of my driveway & saw a large cluster of dragonflies swirling round & round in a ray of sunlight in my next door neighbor's yard. It was mesmerizing.

I've never seen that before or since.
