My dh and I went to a nursery today and purchased a Bracken's Brown Beauty Southern Magnolia Tree. We haven't decided where exactly we will plant it because it gets pretty large and we don't want to hurt ours or anyone else's view. It has buds and should flower this year, but it's pretty small at this stage. We (mostly I) figured that we couldn't handle one in one of those really large containers, so chose a smaller one, hence a smaller tree. It will be fun watching it grow (hopefully, it will grow).

Sounds great!

Not even realizing this weekend was coinciding with earth day, we met our landscaper at a nursery and picked out two large crepe myrtles, a dogwood, 5 hydrangeas, and two lilac bushes.

The dogwood and two hydrangeas are for the backyard, everything else out front.

I'll have to wait till Monday to find out if it's okay or required to plant a tree or two between the sidewalk and the street.

I can't wait to see how it all comes together.  All purple out front.  Purple and green.

@Lucky Charm  Wow ~ Score !! How beautiful will your yard be? My dh loves hydrangeas so I planted three of them several years ago. They bloom like crazy in our area. We looked at dogwoods today as well, but settled on the magnolia.  Enjoy your gorgeous new yard.
