My tomato plants are chock full of red tomatoes and lots of flowers. I think they're horrible but my husband disagrees. The grape tomatoes are *okay*. But what was I thinking buying Organic San Marzano plants? I'm not in Italy! They are HORRIBLE. The Romas are just *okay*. The only thing that I'm thrilled about are the banana peppers. My garden is organic, but I never have pests. I keep pinwheels in it and they're always spinning. Keeps birds and critters away. I don't have to worry about bunnies it's a raised garden (because of ignorant dog walkers).

I can't help you with your tomatos, but maybe I can make you laugh.

One year I had a bumper crop of tomatos and was so proud of them.

But before I picked them a stray dog came into the neighborhood.  I heard my son

laughing and gurgling and having a grand old time  so I popped my head out of the window to see what had him so amused.

He had tossed all those beautiful red balls into the air and the dog had caught them.

I had tomato sauce all over my car and the front of my garage.

But ... I did not need to can the tomatos that year!

I am pretty certain I would not be laughing at first - maybe later!

Update to my tomato plants.  They are coming in like gangbusters.  I made a nice tomato sauce from 11 Romas yesterday and picked a dozen more today.  We've also been using them for salads.  Hopefully, I'll have enough for at least two more batches of sauce.  It's only from 3 plants.  Other plants are grape tomatoes and they're great for salads, avocado toast and handfuls for snacks.  My garden always peaks too soon.  My dads will go until November....

Impressed with your crop.  Beginning to think planting early just gets to peek too early.  My crops not that impressive. Lots of cracking before ripe, then mold quickly.

Morning

Just thought I would tell you that when I do my veg garden, I plant 2-4 tomato plants, but I space them out  one by one every week. That way, they do not all come in at once. I can them and make salsa with them.

I think that is a valid technique.  I just might do that.

Just a note, those plants that died early were a huge disappointment. Those in a different plot are producing decent crops since early September.  They were initially cracking severely and some rotted right away.  Looking better in last week.  My small tomatoes producing well.
