@cheriere  Wow! I've never seen a cabbage plant in a garden before- I've only seen cabbage in the grocery store. Beautiful vibrant green color- they look like big flowers with the big green petal leaves around the cabbage! I'd make so much coleslaw with that Smiley Very HappyHeart

Thank you 😃❤️

My mom taught me to make her Cole slaw.  It's simple, but to me, the best in the world.  It's hard to stop eating once I get started lol.😃

@bmorechick

Thank you so much.😃❤️

It makes me glad to know you enjoy the pics.  I was afraid they might be too dull lol.

I've never grown the Boston lettuce, but I've read about others doing exactly what you did to plant it.  I hope it does make it.

I love ❤️ that your grandson brought the little plant to you.  That's so sweet.  I know how much children love to grow their own things.  When I taught science lab, the little ones were always so excited to check their plants progress.  I hope it makes it too...for his sake.❤️❤️❤️

Thank you.  I'm so glad you enjoy the pictures.  😃❤️

Gardening is about the only thing I've ever done in the summer.  The white you're seeing is just a landscape cover.  We lined this upper garden with it so we didn't have to tear up and till the soil.  We just cut holes where we're planting.  A lot of people do this for an easier garden.  We only put cabbage, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, early girl tomatoes, and some herbs in here.

But, we also keep seperate raised beds by this garden.

Its the lower garden that's really the most work.  The ground has to be broke up, tilled, and stuff before anything can be planted.

Those look like the cabbage plants next door from my sister. I can see them from the bedroom window upstairs where we stay when we visit.

The neighbors give her some every summer.

She makes cabbage steaks with them.

@cheriere  Thank you for telling me about the cover. I have done something similar in the small garden that I have.

Cabbage steaks sound fantastic!  That's something I've never made too!  I'll bet they caramelize great on the grill.😃❤️

You're so welcome.  It's good for helping keep so many weeds out too.  I really appreciate your liking my garden pics, thanks again.😃❤️
