As we gather our vegetables I am wondering if gardeners are seeing things that they would change or do differently.  I talked with fellow gardener who shared that she planted what wad supposed to be jalopinio peppers but after while noticed they were banana peppers.  Home Depot said there had been some mixup.  She also indicated there was some large "scandal" with seed mismarked  from China.  Are we getting seed from China?

What serd , vegetables and plants are you impressed with?

Re: Assessing One's Garden

[ Edited ]

I just have a small garden containing two tomato plants, two sweet banana peppers,  two small patio tomatoes, basil, parsley, oregano, chives. The whole garden edge is surrounded by marigolds.

I also planted six cucumber plants that I bought at Lowe's. It turned out that the cucumbers are actually cantaloupes. They were labeled incorrectly. I wasn't planning on planting cantaloupes, but I have them now.

I did plant cantaloupes in that same area a few years ago all by themselves.  They now share space with other herbs and veggies.

I'd rather have cucumbers, but my neighbor has been sending over her extras.  Last week, she gave me eight of them.

I used to grow alot in pots on the back deck of my house and did pretty well. Had many lovely fragrant lilies and a few veggies. I sold the house and moved to an apartment with a tiny balcony, got a few pots and planted a very small amount of lilies and a few tom and herbs--and what a huge dissapointment--nothing has done well at all. Sun is fine during the day but what a bust. This year 20 liliies started growing but none of them developed buds and the stems just failed as well. I don't do anything different and location is ok. Very sad!! My parsley is the only thing that did much----Woman Frustrated

My flower bed is blooming like crazy. Last year, the flowers were so thick that they creeped on to the lawn. This year I set them further back so some dirt shows around the edges. I guess I liked it better when the whole area was covered with flowers.

I took pictures of the pots that were doing well.  I need to write down their names.  Tomato plants in community garden are done growing,  tomatoes are almost ripened and leaves have withered away.  Not impressed with those varieties.  Need to reseed lettuce and spinach.
