A question about easter lilies

I am not a gardener at all but a few years ago my hubby bought me an easter lilly. After the flowers died off we planted it in the yard. Every year since it has come up, spread, and produces many lovely flowers. However, now I have 10 plants coming up in one very small area so I know I need to separate the bulbs , I just don't know when is the best time to do so. I live in Florida so the weather is good all year. I was thinking in the fall before they start to sprout. Any help?
