@Tribesters Yep, those snakes sure will cause some palpitations Woman Wink.  

 

I have a checkered garter snake that lives around my deck.  He blends in so well with the leaves, plants and decorative bark, that I have often reached for the hose, or something, only to see him a foot away, when he moves.  I always jump back and let out screech.  He just looks at me like -- what's your problem?

 

I'm actually a bit attached to him. I scan the yard before mowing to make sure he's out of harm's way.

 

Gardens are so wonderful, but we do have to share with the other creatures who find our landscapes wonderful, too.
