It has been wet and cool in Nova Scotia this last month.  We are finally starting to get some color in the garden.  A few photos today.  Out fertilizing this afternoon.  Welcome gardening season 2016😊.  My garden girl needs the hostas to give her some cover!  LM

Very pretty.  I am out planting white begonias in urns in front yard.

@DiAnne, great minds think alike!!!  I bought juicy deep pink begonias today and will pot them tomorrow.  We are still having cold nights so I am a little worried about that.  They go in a concrete planter so they are not easily moved.  I love begonias.  My favorite annual.  LM

That's Brunnera in the photo above the wooden blue jay? And I like your blooming Pulmonaria (lungwort) the 2nd from last photo. Is that Heath in the last photo?

A few years ago when I was on top of my yard work, I dug up the begonia corms / bulbs and replanted them the next year and got flowers.  Not into gardening like that anymore so I just buy the beautiful plants each year.

@JustJazzmom, yes to the Brunnera.  The bluejay is actually concrete.  I painted him one cold winter day.  The Brunnera and Pulmonaria get us through the early Spring with the promise of color to come.  The burgundy is Heather.  LM

@jlkz, that's interesting about the begonia bulbs.  What zone are you in?  I put these in a planter.  I usually line my planters with landscape cloth and, at the season's end, I just lift out the cloth and pitch it.  No mess.  LM

@Lilysmom

Not sure of the zone number: General NJ / PA / DEL / NY area.  Had the begonias in a deck planter also.

Tricky part: knowing which side is up for replanting.  It seems that some of them had indentations on both sides.  Suggest placing them on cardboard with a marker stating that you have the tops facing up....just dont drop them or you may have delay in growth!

When Inplant them, I use found pine cones to cover the soil...a finished look until the foliage fills the planter.

@Lilysmom Heath is Erica and unfortunately the terms Heather and Heath are used interchangeably; Heather blooms later on and is Calluna.
