the gendel girls (breezies) and breaking out of the qvc box

interesting article about the gendel girls, expanding their brand outside of qvc, and their new chief marketing officer. makes you think that their presence at qvc  may be on its way down. they probably want to pursue other retail outlets.

At the Gendel Girls, he will try to help the family establish a stronger presence outside of QVC as it works on possibly selling products through other retail channels. The Gendel Girls started in 1994 when Kathy Gendel and her husband left their own corporate jobs to start a lingerie business. Segments featuring Kathy and her daughters help the company sell bras and underwear on the network. The Gendel Girls declined to share sales data, but said the company has sold millions of items in all and had its had its biggest day on June 24, selling more than 150,000 bras in 24 hours.

The company has a very limited presence online, including a Facebook page and a website that shows a large picture of the foursome and gives fans a way to contact the company.

"They've been really great at sales and marketing themselves on air but they haven't really done much to increase their exposure through other channels," Mr. Shah said.

Interesting -  hope they try something different from their QVC line.

I haven't seen a bra I'd order for many years.  Their engineering stops working totally in my cup size -  and I think they have known this because it's been years since they offered even a halfway decent DDD.  I had much better luck with their panties, but overall I do better  elsewhere for all my needs.

They could never bring in the amount of income in any other non TV outlet that they sell and earn in a few minutes on QVC.  No one can.

@colliegirls

why would they need to hire a chief marketing officer then? my guess is is that they are pursuing ventures outside of qvc. it doesnt necessarily mean that they are leaving, but perhaps sales are down and they need some other outlets?

@colliegirlsI think there's a lot of truth in what you say, but one time I met a QVC vendor in person.  That vendor talked about using a presence on QVC as a way to get name recognition and increased sales for other parts of the company.  I have no idea if that's working.

That would work for me -  as I said, there's not a bra in the QVC line-up that works for me.  That's not much of a surprise.  I also cannot buy a single bra at either Victoria's Secret or Soma -  they truly have nothing for someone with a large bust that needs major support.  There lots of room in the lingerie industry if they can find another niche to fill.

I get very, very tired of seeing them and don't sit through their presentations...channel changing time.  It's been years and years, it's time for them to move on.  They're so dyed and overly made up they look like clowns.

@millieshops.  I buy my DDD at Lane Bryant, usually Cacique???.  They have with and without wire.  I buy when they have their big sale so cost per wear is pennies.  Wash gentle in cold water and hang to dry they last for months and the elastic does not stretch out.  Black w/red roses, swirls of purple shades, stripes, you name it and they all have panties.  I am no longer stuck on black,white and pastels.  This is the first store where I can go in knowing I will have a large selection to pick from and they will fit.  In the long run I spend less money because they fit properly and do not have to be replaced every 3 months.  I have to travel an hour for a small store so I check on line before traveling to find a large branch along the way.

I totally agree, I love the cacique line. I've tried liking Breezies, but just have never found the right bra! I love the new Cacique Cooling wire free bras! They are perfect and like you said last long!

I've tried a variety of Breezies products over the years, and have never liked any of them.When I used to watch QVC a lot, I got a lot of reading done during their tedious presentations.
