I bought a pair of Giuliana Jeans last week and I love them but they are too small. Naturally they are sold out. Next time I will order two sizes and return the one I don't want. However, am I wrong to interpret free exchanges means they do not charge you to return one size and send you another? I was just told free exchanges means they get shipped for free to you but you still get charged for returning the first pair. Does that make sense?  It's a moot point because the are sold out. Just trying to figure out what free exchanges means to you.

No, that's not correct, here is Q's policy on exchanges as stated on this site:

What's your policy for exchanges? Add To Reply

If you're not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, our return policy allows you to send back returns-eligible merchandise within 30 days of the date you received the package for an exchange. Simply use the Q Return Label within 30 days of receipt to return your item for a free replacement of the same item in a different color or size. If your request for an exchange results in any additional merchandise or shipping costs, and you paid by credit card, your credit card will be charged for those additional costs. Payment methods other than a credit card may result in an order cancellation & a refund may be issued. If the requested exchange is no longer available, including items on waitlist and advance order, QVC will issue a refund and not deduct the Q Return Label fee.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I was in a similar predicament a few years ago.  I was NOT charged for MY mistake.  I posted about it.......

Exchange's are free.  It's slightly different if you attempt an exchange and the new color/size isn't available.  As noted in the policy.

If you buy two of something at the same time  and keep one and return one; that is not an exchange.  That is a return.

Careful when there is a different item number for regular vs petite. I had to go to CS to fight for “free exchange”.

Isn’t Giuliana an HSN brand?

@KCDiva  You are correct.  Pay for returning but the replacement will ship free to you.  I think they should cut the return to QVC charge in half when you are exchanging.

Having just sent back a pair of DreamJeanne leggings that didn't fit (despite checking the info) and losing $10.45 in original and return shipping charges, I'm very glad I used PayPal. I can claim the money deducted from my refund from them.

Losing nearly $11 on an item that cost just under $30, is way too much for me to order clothes anymore unless I'm absolutely certain of the sizing.  If it weren't for PayPal's policies, I wouldn't order at all these days.

I couldn't ask for an exchange because they had sold out of the next size up, in the color I wanted.

And now I have a QF teeshirt that was in stock when I ordered it, but has gone to "Backorder".  Yet when I looked just now, it still shows "in stock".  Just plain crazy.

@Katcat1- I've used the free exchange a couple of times.  I wasn't charged anything extra.  The replacement was simply sent out.  The only issue I can see is, if the exchange you wanted wasn't available at the time.  In which case, if I understand it correctly, you'd lose the original shipping (but not the return pre-paid label fee).

Either way, it's very confusing!
