I think the hosts generally give iffy advice, at least for my life style. I  will dry a delicate item on low or fluff for a bit, then hang dry.  I find if you 'scrunch up' the shoulder seams and carefully match them to the hanger there is not a problem.

They must have huge laundry rooms or exagerate the number of items they buy to lay all of them out flat. Like another poster I have a cat and she would find a laid out sweater the purrfect bed, doing to it far worse than any hanger.

I use the stackable drying racks that @SilleeMee posted. If you have your own washer and dryer, you could stack this on top when not in use, or if they are front loaders. Maybe stack it on some other flat surface in your home? Not sure about how to keep cat off it though.

They would think it's their own personal bed ha.

I would just close the door to that room.

This is the exact reason I don’t buy anything dry flat. I’m in a condo and perhaps if there’s ONE item, I can dry flat on top of the washing machine . But space I just do not have nor do I have a drying rack in my bathtub. Bathtub would be the only solution if you want to continue using this type sweater.
