I would lose the weight then go to a store to try on coats.

Clothes that are too big aren't flattering.

Dennis Basso coats run large, they are generous. If they are too big, I would donate it and purchase another coat in a smaller size as your outerwear is something that you are always seen in during most of the year if you live in a cold climate.
