This thread is a bit awkward. The OP believes it's ok to show abs and is asking what age is too old that it is "yukky". Like most others here, I don't think it is proper to show off the midriff at any age- besides at the gym and on the beach. On the other hand, women in India wear saris at every age that shows the midriff and it is not yukky at all. I think we should stop pointing at our body parts and judging if they are old, saggy, toned, tanned or yukky. Look at yourself and others as a whole person.

It may put others in the grave first!
Of course that would be from them being stunned at your fabulous beauty and toned abs.

I think we should keep the old, the saggy, the yukky and the scary covered up for the good of others around us.

If it's deliberate, never.
If 'accidental on purpose' ... i.e. you can't see it unless you move a certain way and you know it ... then maybe 30.

Besides in a bikini at the beach, I don't think it is ever ok. That is my personal opinion.
Now, ignoring my personal preference not to see ANYONE's belly, I don't think there is a definite age. I think it would be more by your physical shape. If your abs are not flat and toned and there is any belly flab at all, the look is not a good one, regardless of age or gender (I don't want to see big guy bellies either). Regardless of physical shape though, I think it looks ridiculous for someone of a "certain age" to show their belly...even on the beach. I am 47 and would never wear a bikini now even if I had awesome abs...don't think it goes with my varicose veins and the start of my wrinkles...lol!
Of course, my opinion on the whole belly showing thing was totally different when I was 20 and had flat abs and wore cropped tops and mini skirts. I will never admit that to my daughter though...I am hoping she will stay more covered up than mom did.

About 18 months old seems about right - but definitely not later than 2nd birthday!

No, trust me it wouldn't be from that!
I remember the belly shirt craze. I believe this was the late 80's/early 90's. Yes I did wear it then along with my Final Net sprayed "mall hair." What a mess.
Amy1900, I just read your post. I think we were sporting the same ensembles at about the same time. We are also about the same age. We were hot!
