@Goldengate8361 I quite agree. I find her face very plain jane, nothing special, but her body is built for designers clothing no doubt.

She has the look that currently is popular with Hollywood and the fashion world. "The" look, which changes rather rapidly now.  But always thin enough to make teenage girls have issues with how they look.

Zendaya has responded frequently to the body shaming she has frequently had to contend with. She has explained due to her 5'10 height and need for a lot of calories she stays slim. She eats a vegan diet. I loved when she said "Not because I love vegetables but because I love animals."

In addition her philanthropic efforts are amazing. She is truly a wonderful role model for young women @Sooner . She doesn't even drink alcohol...

@Goldengate8361  I first saw Zendaya in the movie Dune. I did not know who she was but I found her to be beautiful. Even in drab drapey desert garb. They used to call it exotic but now we just say beautiful.

@Trinity11 You make some excellent points.  My definition of a role model is not a celebrity, but a women with a career in business, science, or any other job earning money for herself or her family, or a stay-at-home mom.  These women contribute to others in so many ways that are undervalued now.  Not on looks and money but on making daily life better.

Whether she wears a suit to the office, or jeans or a uniform, or stays home with the kids, those are the women that girls can pattern real life around.

@pdlinda

Don't feel bad, I was wondering the same thing.

I've seen her name here and there, but no indication of what she does.  It was always about her and Tom Holland, whom I assume is an actor.

Dismissing Zendaya because she’s a celebrity ignores the reality that she uses that influence to challenge harmful norms and reach millions in a positive way  @Sooner .

@Sooner

I understand your point, but I also think expecting all women to be "role models" for some stranger's children can be asking too much.

Isn't it the parents' job to be good role models or provide examples?
