ask yourself this bewise.if you made more money on unemployment,or working for min wage.what would you choose?I would choose unemployment for sure.do the math!

Yes @Kachina624 they can't fill the jobs because people don't want those jobs. It's a job mismatch, need for child care, fear of disease, things that affect everybody. The studies show terminating unemployment benefits drove very few people to work.. It's a very disruptive period with the pandemic. I am taking a sabbatical myself, so I relate. (And I am not collecting unemployment.)

@NYCLatinaMe You are so right! Need for child care, job mismatch, and especially fear of the disease. Working in retail, restaurants and many other lower paying jobs put people at a higher risk. I have friends who themselves are healthy but fear transmitting the disease to their compromised family members, elderly parents, and have children who are too young to get vaccinated. It's not all about collecting unemployment.

I saw a item on TV last week about many of the disappearing workers were taking advantage of on-line study for a better job while they were getting the extra unemployment. I think that is a good thing.
