Re: When Your Blacks Don't Match

Yes, it makes me nuts if the colors are supposed to match and don't. I learned very quickly to dry clean ALL the pieces of a suit at the same time, even if only one piece needed it. And random pieces of the same color but different line/manufacturer? I won't do it.

What is this thing called "ironed" ????   That hasn't happened to be often and I wear a lot of black but when it does, I just have to re-think my oufit.

I hate trying to match blacks.  Sigh.  I get it as close as I can.  I have never noticed anyone else wearing two shades of black though.

it annoys the hello out of me! Black can be so 'slenderizing' (in lieu of actually dieting and exercising Smiley Happy ) but 2 off blacks --eh -- not so much.

I agree with poster about navy (?) . Unless by the same manufacturer almost impossible .

Re: When Your Blacks Don't Match

It used to bother me back in the day but not anymore. I no longer own or need matching suits. I understand that those who still work in very professional settings need matching color pieces.

I like the idea of making outfits and even suit-like outfits with a cardigan or jacket, top, and bottom in different but complementary colors. As long as it “goes” I don’t worry about it. Wearing various shades of the same color is fine with me whether it is black, blue, or some other color.

Don't do polyester. Silks retain their dyes beautifully and are much more comfortable to wear. They also drape much better.

Re: When Your Blacks Don't Match

You should see me trying to pair up my husband's black socks. I buy all the same brand so I don't have to match them up. But, of course, they don't all fade at the same rate so I sit there trying to match them anyway by "fadedness" lol.
