Re: What's Your Favorite Way to Dress to Keep Cozy Warm

I hate fabrics that others call cozy. I am indoors with heat most of the time, so I don't wear wool, sherpa, velour, etc. If I go outside, I wear a coat. Other than not wearing sandals outside in the winter, most of my apparel is the same year-round (or pretty close).

I'm in the midwest, and have noticed that the older I get, the warmer my clothes need to be. I swear by Cuddl Duds fleece leggings in the winter, a heavy sweatshirt or fleece half-zip top, and my Minnetonka sheepskin lined fuzzy slippers or boots. I haven't found anything that keeps me warm like fleece does, and my Minnetonkas have been the best investment for warm feet.

I have to have jeans or I'm not warm.  If it doesn't touch my skin the air layer between the clothing and my skin is too cold.

I wear a long sleeve tee and a cuddle dud cardigan.  Socks always. We keep the temp on 72.

@Desert Lily   Check out Denim & Co TSV on Thursday.  It is velour tunic in regular and petite and also there are matching velour pants.  Tune in midnight Wednesday or check out under NEW on the homepage as they are being shown.  I just ordered the pants in red, green and deep plum.  Waiting to see if I like the tunics.  Not really sure if I like velour or not, prefer velvet but velvet is really not very warm.  So we will see.

Wool. And for slippers etc, not sherpa but real sheep's wool lined . I have trouble finding warm enough pants though. Thick cotton or courderoy pants with long underwear used to be my mainstay but I cannot find thick cotton pants anymore. Everyone's gone cheap, even the old mainstay's Land's End and LL Bean.

Can't stand being hot, so there's no cozy warm for me.  I wear cotton knit pants and a short sleeve t-shirt around the house.  Birkenstock style slippers.  Put on a sweater and socks if I get chilly.

If I felt so cold I needed to wear something heavy, I'd check to see if the furnace is working.

Then you must not live in the northern states. Or if you do, you keep your thermostat at 80. My house is extremely drafty also. So even though I too hate to be hot, I am rarely hot in winter here unless I am doing strenuous housework or exercise.

Layers, and lots of them!  Always a cotton top or turtleneck with blouse over it, then a sweater or fleece top over that.  If I get warm, the top layer comes off -- or goes back on.  Jeans - thicker dark denims for winter - and thick knee socks with my suede Naturalizer booties.

Evenings:   Flannel pajamas, chenille robe (Stan Herman - my man!), thick socks and fuzzy slippers.

I'm happy in a cashmere sweater, and my jeans have to be snug. If I'm out walking in the brrrry cold, that sweater with down jacket and 2 hats, and I'm good.

When it’s really cold in our house, I wear a long sleeve tee under my fleece jacket. I still have my own personal summers, so I can remove & take off the jacket as needed (and put it back on after). I usually wear jeans, but I do own 2 pairs of warm sweatpants. I also have thicker socks and wear my warm ankle slippers. If my feet are cold I’m miserable.

If I’m going out somewhere and want to look more polished I wear my boot cut jeans, ankle boots, turtleneck, and one of my leather jackets. I have a very warm winter coat, but I don’t need it unless I’m going to be outside for awhile. I can survive without it if I’m just getting in and out of my car to go somewhere.
