I fear my beloved tunic tops are on life support. Not as many out there in new arrivals but enough for me. There is a tailored tunic I would love to have at Lafayette 148 but not in my budget. Does anyone know if there is a Lafayette dupe? I have things to hide around my waist and buttock area that are not precious, but mine nonetheless and I need to keep them.
I heard wide leg pants were going to sweep us away, but looks like the wide legs are limited to crops, culottes, the more dressy trousser for suit dressing, clubbing or specialty attire. I love cigarette pants. Unlike the rest of my body, my legs did not get fat! I am still seeing plenty skinny legs. Oh, happy day. At 5-5 and shrinking, I am too short for wide leg pants. Hemming costs and wide legs even more so. I do not like extending my shopping dollar to tailoring. ![]()
Blazers and suit dressing seem to be making a big comeback, (c. 1980s), even some Italian cut blazers/jackets. So many lovely blazers. Ah and LDO has a lovely blazer this week for sale, a la Armani look. It appears there is a blazer for every lady, some tied at the waist, some buttoned, and others are open. I am also loving the checks and glen plaids.
Blouses that have wide cuffs (big cloches), ruffles and off the shoulder. Sigh of relief. I do not see as many cold shoulders. Just not for me. Even Lafayette 148 is getting into the off-the-shoulder look. Cute for the younger set and if I were young, I would go for it. I am liking the handkerchief cuff and note asymmetry of hemlines seems to be yesterday. Lots of peplums.
Sophisticated shoes with pointed toes. Liking that. Block heels and gladiator looks are still out there (these are great for my feet that need big old heels).
Some precious flats with fur and some with bees, others in velvet and some in suede. Just too sexy for myself. Thank you, Lord, that open toes are still okay to be worn. Loving some of the summertime sandals. I am loving all the slides and dressy mules.
Dresses in florals, dresses in solids. Dresses with ruching, without ruching, with low cuts, high cuts, big sleeves, no sleeves. I think dresses are surging and the chemise seems to be big with the more svelte ladies.
Wow! Just about the time I was loving the big Joan Boyce sunglasses, here comes the Ernest Hemingway. Even Prada has downsized their sunglasses somewhat. Big Blue with gradient sunglasses for 2018.
Okay, tell me what you found! We are probably all shopping different stores, so let's talk about what we find.
Oh, yes, I was going to look at handbags and first went to Chanel. They looked as though I need to cut up my tweed coats and make them into a sack with a drawstring. I think I am still a D&B or Brahmin lady.

So far, I have seen fewer cold shoulder tops and a glut of 3/4 sleeves with ruffles. Ladies complain they can't put a sweater on without folding a pleat first. I'm not buying them. I had ruffles on my rubber pants as a baby.![]()

I am not a big fan of Spring/Summer fashions. I wilt in the heat and summer where I live is very hot and very humid. I don't do florals or prints, I don't do anything form fitting or fitted as it's just too hot. Big sunglasses work for me so luckily I have all I need. I stick to black, tan (linen) and mint green. I have one bag that I use (CHANEL is just going bonkers.....$10,000 for a TWEED bag. Yeah, whatever). I do capris but nothing flared (looks bad on me), with tunics. I'll have to watch for them.
Give me winter and cold weather. ANY time, all the time.

I am not a big fan, as I stated, of the cold shoulder so I am not missing that. I do like the handkerchief sleeve. Less to get in my bowl of soup.
