I agree! I've been a Talbots shopper for 34 years. My first dress was when I was 16 years old. It was hot pink with white small flowers. My late Mom introduced Talbots to my twin sister and me, and I loved our planned shopping trips a few times a year to Massachusetts stores.  Items might have been expensive, but the quality was impecable and the clothing lasted so long that it was well worth the investments. Timeless classics.

Sadly, I do think they have cheapened their merchandise and certainly skimp on the sizing.

My sister and I still take trips to Talbots a couple of times a year, but we have noticed a lack of quality.

@uptowngirl25- I’ve shopped at Talbots since the early 60’s, when I was a little girl. I’d say 98% of my clothes are from Talbots. I think the quality is just fine. I mean, I can’t think back 50 years, but I’m very pleased with the quality of the clothes I buy there.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: What is a Talbot's Company Store?

I have not been to a Company Store but as I've said on other threads discussing Talbot's retail stores and Talbot's Outlets, based on my experiences there is no way I would confuse the quality of the retail stores' merchandise with the quality of the outlet stores' merchandise. The appearance of the stores is no comparison.  The retail stores are organized and have design to them.  The outlets I've been in are four walls with jammed racks of clothes all over, a spartan fitting room and a checkout counter.

In my younger days I enjoyed hunting for bargains in outlets.  Now I prefer to wait for a sale in retail stores or online.

So, I went to the Talbot’s Company Store and was very disappointed, as was my friend.  The clothes were similar to what you see at Talbots.  For instance: right now Talbots has the Paris theme going on as does the Company store.  The regular store has a sweater with one kind of dog where The Company store has a Basset on theirs.  The sizing is off, too.  I wear a size small at the Company store and a medium at Talbots.  Most of the clothes looked cheap and wrinkled.  I wasn’t impressed at all.  I don’t see anything in the store that had first been in Talbots.  Like an outlet.

Im also not happy with Talbots this season.  Things don’t fit well.  I’ve had to buy two of the same size online to see which one will fit well.  Unfortunately,  JJill is going through this too.

Re: What is a Talbot's Company Store?

So I asked at the Company Store. The merchandise is a middle end casual style, with a looser fit. They sometimes get "Talbots Retail" merchancise which you will most likely find in theirr enormous sale section.  The pajamas and some of the accessories are the same as "Talbots Retail".

The NEW T ( with a circle) line is the same as in the "Retail Stores".

I recently visited the Talbots in Burlington, Mass and was disapointed. I did not feel as though I was in a regular Talbots store, I think it was a mixed bag of stuff. VERY Disapointing.

Re: What is a Talbot's Company Store?

I still make Talbots regular retail store one of my stops. On the other hand, Talbots outlet stores are a waste of my time. I think I bought a scarf once. The outlet quality is just not there. The fabrics are poor, and details are missing. These clothes must be made solely for the outlet. If one has been a Talbots’ customer more decades, the difference is obvious. It does appear that the company store concept will be a dumping ground.
