Re: What Has Happened To QVC And Their Programming Lately?

I too was a big fan QVC (CVN) of long ago, and the programming is very repetitive anymore. I also buy from JTV for jewelry prices are way better and so much more to choose from. And their Girlfriend Fridays are fun to watch. As for the fashions, on the Q, there again getting so boring and prices keep going up. So I just keep a couple A-D programs for now. Even thinking of giving up WEN, I love the product but it's just getting too pricey for the amount you use. I took back an item for return to the Q to the post office and the postal worker said she gets so many of returns each day for them. I wonder how much the Q is really loosing from returns. From the many posts here, it seems to me a lot of shoppers are going else where to buy and that includes me as well.

I wonder why they don't have visiting vendors who come a few times with special merchandise and then that's it for them. (Something like the Irish people who come...yikes...it's this month!!!) Years ago a lady came with some beachy type products, sort of Maine themed décor items, but that's when I was first watching, but I never saw her again. There doesn't seem to be much variety, but it must be working or we'd see a change.

Re: What Has Happened To QVC And Their Programming Lately?

IMO it isn't just lately. Its been pretty mediocre for the past 2 - 3 years. I watch less and less because there is not much that interests me. fortunately I use my dvr for shows I may not be home to watch and so I have that to fall back on.

I guess I look at it as a mixed bag. If I don't watch, I don't buy. If I don't buy, its much better overall.

Beats the foofies out of me...I rarely watch anymore. Not even the gardening shows are interesting to me any more.

Re: What Has Happened To QVC And Their Programming Lately?

I thought it was just me! The clothes were getting boring and way too costly for me. I LOVE fashion but seems there are a lot of other cheaper places to find it now. I've bought quite alot from QVC, esp from Dennis Basso.

I love to just look at what's trending and see if I can copy it, or mix it from what I already own. Love clothes!

I have been watching and shopping at QVC for years. It is sad to see how the programming has changed. From what I can see, these are now QVC's core brands and the ones that air adnauseum:

Vitamix

Dyson

Dell, Apple & HP

KitchenAid

SleepNumber

WEN

Philosophy

Susan Graver & Isaac M

Keurig

IT, Josie M. & BE

If you are not one of these brands, good luck getting some air time and a TSV. It seems pretty clear by the repetitive shows that the QVC cares more about getting new customers than retaining the current ones. This too is also very sad and foolish as it is less costly to keep existing customers than to get new ones. Vitamix, Dyson, SleepNumber, KitchenAid, the computer brands and to some extent Keurig are infrequent purchases. If you buy one of these you should have it for years. Only the beauty and clothing items are frequent purchases and what the existing customers would purchase regularly. Most regular customers are likely to have already purchased a vitamix, dyson, etc by now due to the nonstop airings.

Instead of looking for new and unique, less known vendors like they used to do, now they only want brands with existing well known brand recognition. I can see how this can make for easier sales but I do miss all the unique items you could only find at the Q .

Please let's not forget Dooney & BOURKE, they seem to be on every other day oh and then there's Clarks. With all the handbag and footwear companies out there, the Q can't bring us something other than D&B and Clarks. They really need a new revamping of their programming.

Re: What Has Happened To QVC And Their Programming Lately?

I usually don't purchase jewelry from the Q except for Shawn's ring and a few other inspirational pieces. Their infinity diamond jewelry is a joke, very little diamonds and not great quality. As far as clothing, I love isaacs cardigans and have many, I always get compliments when I wear his cardigans, and I'll buy Linea or George Simonton, that's it. No electronics or their ridiculously priced food items. I've been with the Q from the beginning but now I only tune in for certain shows and my buying has decreased dramatically. I think they need new buyers or whatever it takes to bring us some fresh new lines. I'm tired of seeing the same exact jacket or coat they bring out every year. Give good clearance prices and clear them out instead of letting them sit in the warehouse and bring them out year after year at more expensive prices, of course.
