Re: WIW (w/e 12/10/22)...

[ Edited ]

Just yesterday I ran across an old chocolate brown wool V neck pullover sweater.  Perfectly clean and folded, in a storage bin.

I guess I shrunk it years and years ago, because it is small.  But now a days, it's ok to wear shorter, slim looking sweaters, so I'll wear it on cold days.

I love chocolate brown worn with black, too!

All nice choices as usual, McDuff.  Heart

Hi @Chopsmom    Getting fashion color inspo from a pair of sandals!  Who knew?  Good eye, chops!

Thanks @phoenixbrd  I love a good bargain!

@jlkz   Yes!  Organization of space was a key to taming my closet...I'm quite organized 'cuz even when my closet was packed to the ceiling and I couldn't move the hangers, it was organized...organized chaos haha.  Even though I'm the incredible shrinking woman, I can still easily reach the sweaters on the shelf.  I wasn't sure if you were saying that it would be better for my sweaters if they weren't piled high on top of each other...is it somehow better for them to be stacked only 3 or 4 high?  Or was that just an organizational tip...shelves on top of the shelf above the rod is a better use of space?  (I apologize for being so dense if I got that all wrong!)

BTW, this 4' x 6' space is, by far, the largest closet space I've ever had, so no complaints here haha.  I just had to get a grip on the amount of clothes I had jammed in there, hence The Great and Terrible Closet Purge of 2018!

@queendiva   It's true that I purged so much out of my closet that I ended up with a skeleton closet, but I still have plenty of items from BT and, let's be real here haha, I certainly didn't entirely stop shopping B&M (but I'm going to try next year).  I like to mix it up.  The oldest piece I have is a beautiful blouse that belonged to my very fashionable paternal Grandmother...would never get rid of it...sentimental value.  I have never worn it 'cuz it was too small, but, the other day I was playing in my closet and noticed that the color...blush pink, which washes me out...not only goes with a brown linen jacket I thrifted this year, but IT FITS!  [insert more happy dancing!]  Wear your Marshall's sweater in good health!

Hi @ROMARY   Yes to brown and black, but I also love brown with denim.  Finding that sweater is a blessing, and I hope you find lots of ways to wear it.  Now all you have to do is find a high-waisted pair of slacks or jeans (I know you like that look) in another storage bin, and you're good to go haha!

Thanks to all...hope you're having a great week and all set for Chanukah, Christmas, and a new year.

'Now that I'm thinking about it'............Somewhere stored away folded down is a hanging canvas shelves item........Lots of space in each 'cubby', which is about 12 or more inches tall.  And maybe the same width-wise.

I'm going to look for that hanging canvas shelving unit (or whatever it's called).  As I recall, it's very sturdy.

Now, where will I hang it?  It's quite tall, so the horizontal closet bar will have to be high.

Anyway, a great place to store and easily view various old and new Fall/Winter sweaters.

@qbetzforreal   Me, too!  One of my favorite thrifted purchases ever...$9, new.  Yesssss!!

@ROMARY   If it's canvas, maybe you could let the bottom cubby just collapse on the floor, if that makes sense, or maybe cut off the bottom cubby...Murphy's Law dictates that, if you need the horizonal bar to be, say, eight feet high, it'll naturally be seven...I'd like to kick Murphy's butt!

@MacDuFF

Looking at the shelf with your sweaters stacked high, it would probably be better for them to be less high.  Placing the do-it-yourself shelving above the shelf above the rod would be ideal: easier access without the stack either falling or slipping over; less weight / less chance for creases; ones worn less placed on upper shelves; etc.

Foldable step stool could also serve as seat for putting on or removing shoes and boots.

But, do what is best for you !

@queendiva   Opps...I meant to respond to your earlier suggestion in my response to you yesterday.

ITA that a smaller clutch or crossbody would be better with my interpretation outfit.  I used to own a few crossbody bags, but rarely or never carried them...they didn't survive the purge haha.  I have two bags that are smaller than the neutral hobo, but one is British tan, the other black with a pink, green, and yellow floral print, neither of  which "went with" the outfit.

I definitely won't buy/thrift a smaller bag just for this outfit...I carry too much junk around with me haha...and chances are good that I won't be wearing this exact outfit much, if at all...I'm still on the fence about white in winter as well as what I see as mixing summer and winter items.  The same outfit tweaked slightly by changing the white jeans to my light wash denim gives essentially the same vibe.  I appreciate the suggestion!

@jlkz   Ahhh, I see what you mean...a combination of "better for my sweaters" and superior organization.  The only thing that really bothers me at this point are the creases you mentioned...and I never thought that the weight of the pile would cause them, but I think you have a good point.  I've been thinking of putting a few of the sweaters that crease or that I love so much I want to baby them on hangers.

Your suggestion may very well turn into a "honey do" for Handsome who could easily make me a cubby for that section of the closet!  Also, our bed is directly outside the closet doors, so I usually sit on it if necessary.
